Learning more about Hassan

This sentence really teaches us more about Hassan and allows us to understand him better. Hassan is a Hazara and since Hazara's obtain a different social class, they aren't necessarily as open to education as others within the society. Despite what Hassan cannot do, such as reading and going to school, he is still so eager and almost attracted to the words and stories Amir read to him. I think when saying that it was almost a secret world to him, really emphasizes the difference of social status' and how that can have an affect on ones daily life and who they are or may become as a person.
