Hosseini's word choice in this quote stands out a lot. Coming across the word trotted, really gives us a strong image in our mind that the word, walked, or ran would not necessarily have given. The word trotted allows us to really visualize Hassan and Amir trotting up this hill, rather than just walking or running. Hosseini's diction throughout the entire novel is strong and helps bring the readers attention to the meaning behind each scene.
